Shitcoin.com Newsletter #2 (July 18, 2018)

Hello Shitcoiners,

In case you missed it, Andreas published the first part of his Lightning Network review this week. Part one is a deep-dive into compiling and running a node. Part two will be with you very soon.

Amidst all of the Lightning testing, Andreas has still been keeping up with the world of crypto, so you don't have to. Here’s the rundown.

Vitalik is on an emotional rollercoaster

Vitalik Buterin recently expressed his opinion that centralized exchanges should burn in hell. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen. One thing for sure is that wrapping your ETH up as W-ETH sucks.

Ethereum has been hitting the news with insanely high fees recently. Did EOS do it? Sounds spicy.

In some less dramatic eth-news, the new Ethereum programming language has been heralded as more simple and secure.

The bankers are coming

The Swiss are trying to keep up with the times (and other nations) by giving crypto businesses access to traditional banking.

Seen the film Catch Me If You Can? Frank Abagnale, who inspired it, has come out and stated that banks will all soon be using blockchain technology.

Gemini have hired former New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) chief information officer Robert Cornish to serve as its first chief technology officer.

Crypto businesses are now making institutional acquisitions of their own. This week Coinbase announced the acquisition which allows them to sell securities tokens. Interesting times ahead.

Building on Bitcoin Conference

Last week the Building on Bitcoin Conference took place in Lisbon, Portugal. Here’s one of Andreas’ highlight talks from Giacomo Zucco on Assets on Bitcoin (TBG Protocol).

Toshi Times reported that Israel’s Bits of Gold exchange was required to share customer details with the Israeli Tax Authority. Ouch.

SpankChain keeps the developments coming

Spicy SpankChain updates are in. This week saw the latest SpankChain community update. It’s good to see an ICO focusing on development and coming through on their promises, even in a bear market.

Our favourite crypto-friendly pornstar has joined their ranks too in an advisory role.

Ready for a manhunt?

Jameson Lopp is disappearing and wants you to find him. Amidst increasing security risk Jameson has decided to relocate to an unknown location with his wife and dog. He’s hiring detectives to hunt him down too.

Andreas' Tweets of the Week

That's all from us! Part two of the Lightning review will be with you soon!
